Use this quick launch checklist to spot gaps in roles, channels, applications, staff workflow, safety notes, and launch copy before you invite players in.
The 15-minute Discord launch check
1. Player path
- New players can find welcome, rules, FAQ, and how-to-join channels without asking staff.
- Whitelist or allowlist steps are visible and written in plain language.
- Announcements, changelog, and event channels are separated from normal chat.
2. Role structure
- Owner, admin, mod, support, department, faction, business, and player roles are separated.
- Staff roles have clear names and do not rely on vague color-only hierarchy.
- Permissions can be reviewed without guessing who can ping, move, mute, or manage channels.
3. Applications
- Staff, whitelist, faction, business, ban appeal, player report, and bug report flows are defined.
- Each application says what information is needed and what happens after submission.
- Private review channels exist for staff decisions and follow-up.
4. Staff operations
- Moderation steps are written before the first incident happens.
- Support requests, incident notes, permission reviews, and staff announcements have separate spaces.
- Staff can find escalation rules without scrolling through chat history.
5. Launch copy
- Your server intro explains the city, departments, businesses, gangs/factions, and current hiring needs.
- Recruiting posts point to one clear Discord path instead of scattered links.
- Launch-week announcements are prepared before the first public post goes live.
6. Safety pass
- The setup does not require sharing bot tokens, passwords, or account access.
- Any automation creates missing items and avoids destructive changes by default.
- Manual setup is possible if you do not want to run code.
